Saturday evening we met some good friends for dinner. With an appetite to see them, our dinner destiny was really secondary. We ventured to a sushi place, new for all of us. It ended up being the highlight of the night. Kawa Sushi (8050 N. Houston Pkwy. W #350 – Houston, TX, 77064) is a quaint, 6-8 table restaurant in a small, uninteresting shopping strip right off Beltway 8. But their food and the colorful artistry of the plating was unexpectedly good. And both, the music and their price list were both pleasing to listen to. Dominating the view of the small place is a full wall covered with a copy of The Great Wave off Kanagawa (神奈川沖浪裏), an 1829 painting by Katsushika Hokusai, a personal Valerie favorite. Our evenings with our good friends are always fun. But framed by Kawa Sushi made it even more special this time.
